The Golden Days of Childhood [POEM]

tricycle childhood
Written by Satya

The stages of Life are quite interesting and the Golden days of childhood are the most precious of all. What we experience between the Golden and the olden days is a challenge of course but the echo of childhood lingers on….

**

How quick the days pass

I am sure it is a terrible loss

Yes, it is very much true,

That time stops for no one though

Childhood bids goodbye

When adulthood takes a step by.

Though I am not ready to accept

Still, what more can I expect

Not that I have to live more

But, I want those days once more

I could remember many of those days

Though I am not old for all these says

It was my childhood, it was my treasure

That gave me a lot of pleasure

From family gatherings at the feasts

To playing with friends on the streets.

Get away from that TV, will you?

Grumbles my granny adjusting her view

Why don’t you get out and play,

Get home before dark, never forgets to say

When holidays come, tons of kids come

Then pranks we play and have lot of fun.

Come in or no sweet, mom calls,

When lunch time comes flying with flowers

‘That’s not out’ and we would quarrel,

So bad that it sounds like a barrel

When ‘Katti’, declared a friend,

Sharing is what he actually meant

Now when I look here and there,

No one, but it is all clear

This is what adulthood brings,

All its way, though it sings.
